A Message from the Librarian

On Tuesday 22nd of August, Year 7s had the opportunity to become mentors for the Grade 6 Transition Program. Year 7 and Grade 6 students came together in groups and enjoyed their ice breaking activities; students formed great friendships and openly discussed various questions. Year 7 students enthusiastically answered Grade 6 students’ questions on advantages and disadvantages about high school, subjects and teachers. The transition program ended with delicious snacks and a wonderful group photo.

Year 7 & Grade 6 Transition Program Feedback

‘A few weeks ago, we had a great experience with the future year 7’s. We all got to know each other’- Sara Saleh

‘On the 22nd of August, my peers and I had a wonderful time meeting the year 6 and getting to know them. The year 6’s were very talkative and with a bit of encouragement, were comfortable to tell us about their worries, fears and expectations of year 7. After discussing the answers to a few icebreakers, we had a delicious meal and continued to answer questions about each other. Over all it was a wonderful experience and I would love to do it again!’- Tasnim Thamer

‘On August 22nd, the year 6 students from Dallas campus came to Eastmeadows Campus to see how the high school is. We played different games to get to know each other. We concluded the program by having some snacks.’- Nida Ahsan

‘When I was in grade 6, Iwent through the same situation about coming and talking with the year 7’s. It was nice to meet the year 6's because it was really fun to socialize. Furthermore it was exciting to be a mentor in Sirius College.’- Hayat Asslan

‘On the 22nd of August 2017, the grade six girls from the Dallas Campus came to the Eastmeadows Campus to get some advice about year 7.

They asked us many questions, but the most common questions that were asked were:

It was really enjoyable to be able to interact with the grade six girls and most of them seemed quite nervous, but hopefully our advice changed all of their minds.- Sabah Mahjabin & Sara Abdeen

When I first joined Sirius College, my music room was still under construction and our instruments were yet to be delivered. On that day, I set a list of goals for our Performing Arts Department and school. We were destined for big things! What a celebration of hard work, singing, acting and dancing! We were thrilled to have shared this experience with our community. I would like to thank our cast, for their countless hours in rehearsals and positive energy; the teachers and students, who assisted in choreography, catering, creating props, costumes and sets; and my director, Ms Maddy for her effort and love for this musical. I can honestly say that this process has been an absolute pleasure. We have worked with a loving team and our students' dedication shows no boundaries. Girls, you are exceptional and I will never forget the memories we have shared over the last five months.

It’s a hard knock life!
